"I think having one employer is the ultimate in insecurity!" Dr. David Kamnitzer, D.C.
Remember when people’s idea of "security" was to get a job for a big company…become a loyal employee…and don’t make waves?
If you still believe that, you’re probably not reading this article!
The world has changed a lot since the 50’s … and it is changing faster everyday.
The path of entrepreneurship is based on a totally different world view – a world view where fluidity, flexibility, creativity, synergy, and boldness … combined with the miracles of modern technology, create an entirely new context for understanding (and realizing) true security.
Entrepreneurs are value creators … and value can be created in many contexts, often at the "same time" (due to the wonders of modern technology).
The transition phase of the budding entrepreneur can be a pretty crazy-making time. It’s easy to feel kind of schizophrenic! I remember going to my J.O.B. and feeling like a Heinlein character in Stranger in a Strange Land. The whole scene seemed almost "cartoonish". Then I would talk to my teammate, and I felt suddenly that somebody had just thrown me a lifeline!
It’s important to bless your J.O.B. and the people there, WHILE you are creating the space for you to move on to new adventures. At the very least, be grateful that your J.O.B. is showing you what you DON’T want, and by contrast, giving you a clearer sense of what it is you DO want, as well as the motivation to achieve it.
Be grateful that your J.O.B. is providing you with a baseline cash flow while you re-invent yourself and your world – while your create …
Multiple Streams of Income!
Your network marketing enterprise is another stream of income. Other joint ventures can provide additional financial streams; so can income producing investments. A small import-export business is another example of a revenue-generating stream. Maybe you could turn a hobby into an income stream. The key is to open your mind and heart to the concept and PAY ATTENTION.
The Universe will start presenting you with all sorts of opportunities and creative ideas.
Multiple streams of income help you to not give your power away to any ONE channel through which you are currently RECEIVING your abundance.
Being able to identify value creating opportunities and then being able to effectively communicate powerful ideas with others are two key skills that show up over and over again in the life of an entrepreneur.
One secret is to notice when you or people you are observing are having a big problem … Maybe you could help provide a solution. For example, many people are unhappy with their current job, and don’t believe they can do anything else. (Could you offer a possible solution?) Another example, many people feel their weight and energy levels are slipping out of control. (Do you have – or know some who does have – a solution?)
Put yourself in the "shoes" of the person you are communicating with. What is important to them? What MOVES them? Isn’t that what you really want to do … MOVE them to take an action they might not otherwise have taken if they had not crossed your path?
Think about a time someone was effectively persuasive with you – maybe a time you had a really satisfying experience with a salesperson or a friend, teacher, or coach … I bet that person really took the interest and time with you to really UNDERSTAND you, and made sure YOU FELT UNDERSTOOD as well. You began to consider that the person you were talking with might really be willing and able to responsibly guide or advise you in a particular area.
Ellie Drake, a highly successful small business coach and transformational speaker, says it is vital to put a lot of people in your business "pipelines" every day. This helps you approach your business ventures with the right posture – a posture that says, "Here, I am offering you a gift. I’m not attached if you accept it. My job is to offer it as best that I can." Then go on to the next person…
It’s NOT about YOU! (read that a couple of more times…)
Make it about THEM. Give them a safe and clear space to take a look inside themselves. That’s where THEIR answers are!
One other tip … Keep it business-like, but keep it LIGHT and UPBEAT at the same time. If people see that you are really heavy, they won’t want to come along. Most people have enough heaviness in their lives already!
I recommend setting up at least three streams of income over the next 12-18 months. One of them could be your J.O.B. Once you have at least three in place, you will intuitively sense if and when it is appropriate to add more.
It’s kind of like reading three books at once. There is usually at least one that you are in the mood to read … at least one that is IN THE FLOW!
Remember, your current CHANNELS of income and abundance are not the SOURCE of your supply. Your connection to Infinite Spirit and Infinite Intelligence IS the source of your supply.
… and, in truth, you ARE ALWAYS connected to that SOURCE.
Allow everything in your life to assume its proper place and let it contribute to you what it can, and let go of trying to make anything MORE than it really is.
Enjoy the Journey! I remain
Your Friend Along the Way
